Assemblywoman Amy Handlin Will Not Seek Reelection
Handlin is a Republican who represents the towns of Aberdeen, Hazlet, Holmdel, Marlboro, Middletown, Rumson and others.

HOLMDEL, NJ — Your local Monmouth County representative Assemblywoman Amy Handlin will not seek another term in office next year.
Handlin first told NorthJersey.com on Monday, Oct. 8 that this will be her last term in the New Jersey state Legislature, and she told NewJerseyGlobe that she will not seek reelection. Patch called her today to ask why, but she did not return our call.
Handlin is a Republican who represents the towns of Aberdeen, Highlands, Atlantic Highlands, Hazlet, Holmdel, Keansburg, Keyport, Marlboro Twp., Middletown, Monmouth Beach, Little Silver, Rumson, Union Beach and others. She is a Middletown resident and she was an outspoken leader in the RAGE movement against the proposed Monmouth County power lines last year.

Assembly Republican leader Jon Bramnick issued the following statement on Handlin's retirement:
“Amy Handlin has always been a leader," he said. "A serious legislator who studies the issues, she is a measured voice in Trenton. Amy is an ethical and dedicated elected official and very well respected by all. I respect her decision, yet she will be missed.”

The 13th legislative district is also represented by state Sen. Declan O'Scanlon and Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso, also Republicans.
Handlin was previously a Monmouth County freeholder and she has served on the Middletown Township Committee.
