Attempted Vehicle Burglary At Holmdel Residence: Cops
An unknown male was spotted inside a Holmdel residence Friday night. It is believed that he tried to steal a car in the garage, police say.
HOLMDEL, NJ - The Holmdel Police Department are investigating an attempted vehicle burglary near Laurel Avenue after a resident reported witnessing an unknown male inside his home on Friday night.
Holmdel police believe that the subject was attempting to steal a high end car that was parked in the open garage, and they entered the home through an unlocked door, according to a Saturday morning social media post.
According to the Holmdel Township Police Department, at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Oct. 9, a resident flagged down a patrol officer on Boxwood Terrace near Laurel Avenue, reporting that he witnessed an unknown male was using a flashlight inside his house. When the subject was spotted by the homeowner, he ran from the home and fled in a white BMW convertible that was at the end of the driveway. The resident attempted to give chase in his own vehicle, but lost sight of the vehicle soon after.

The suspect is described as approximately 5’10, wearing a dark hoodie with the hood up and dark pants. His weight, age and race are unknown.
The incident serves as the latest in a string of car thefts in Monmouth County. Last week, Holmdel police reported a stolen vehicle from a residence in the area of Line Road and Lakeview Drive.

In the early hours of Saturday, Oct. 3, Holmdel Police received a call from a resident who observed several subjects stealing a 2020 Land Rover Discovery from their driveway. A subsequent investigation revealed that three Black males exited a dark four-door SUV and approached the victim’s house. After discovering that the Land Rover was locked, the three suspects gained access to the garage through an unsecured door.
After rummaging through the garage, they entered the resident's home through an unsecured door. The men searched the kitchen and dining room area, eventually locating the keys to the Land Rover and an undisclosed amount of cash. While in the home, the suspects were confronted by the homeowner. The men stole the vehicle and fled towards Bethany Road.
No one was injured in the encounter, according to police. The stolen vehicle was recovered in Newark last week.
