HOLMDEL, NJ — A bar serving alcoholic beverages, soft drinks and food for purchase will open to the public this Thursday at Bell Works in Holmdel.

Bell Works has hosted wine tastings before and there is a wine club that operates as part of Italian eatery Corbo & Sons, but this would be the first actual booze-serving establishment on the premises of Bell Works.

It's called Sol Bar and is owned by Anthony and Melissa Imperiale, who own and operate Bell Works' restaurants, Estrella Azul and Mezza Luna. This is a "pop-up" bar that will only be open Thursdays this summer. The bar will be open from 4:30 - 8:30 p.m. on June 27, July 18, July 25, Aug. 1, Aug. 8 and Aug. 15. They will be offering fare such as burgers, hot dogs, chicken kebabs, pasta salad and watermelon salad and drinks such as $5 beers and hard seltzer, wine and sangria for $7/$8 and margaritas for $8.

This is part of a happy hour series Bell Works is putting on, called "Summer with the Works" and there will also be live music when the bar is open. The bar is open to the public, as well as anyone who works at Bell Works, or is visiting there. The bar held a soft opening mainly for Bell Works employees last Thursday, June 20 to coincide with the summer solstice.

Sol Bar will be located on the roof deck of Bell Works, which is not the rooftop of the building. The roof deck is located on the side of Bell Works, similar to a terrace and overlooks the pond and surrounding campus. Bell Works owner Ralph Zucker has often spoke about his plans to build a hotel plus a 13,000-square-foot rooftop bar/lounge and an outdoor infinity pool on the actual roof of Bell Works, but Sol Bar is not that.

You can find the bar's food and drink menu on their Instagram page.

Bell Works is becoming a business and shopping hub in the middle of suburban Holmdel. Bell Works is now home to many tech and white-collar companies, the Holmdel Montessori school, the Holmdel public library, an upscale food court, a hair salon and a home goods store.

The latest opening date for Bell Works' rooftop hotel is now 2021. The 186-room hotel will not be a brand-name like a Marriott or a Hilton: A boutique hotel operator named Destination Hotels was selected by Bell Works to operate the hotel, which has not yet been named. Destination Hotels operates small-scale resorts, spas and inns in places such as Vail, Carmel Valley, California, Sedona and a resort and spa in Lake Tahoe. Bell Works appears to be their first venture in the Garden State.
