The Holmdel Boys Varsity Soccer team clinched, at a minimum, a co champion spot for Class A Central. This will be the Boys 4th consecutive division title. Rumson, who beat Monmouth earlier today 2-1, still has a shot at sharing the Class A Central crown with Holmdel if they can win their final game against Manasquan on Friday. Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Team.
The Boys won their game today against SJV by a score of 3-1. Senior, Jack Flanagan scored the first goal, his 8th of the year, in the first two minutes of the game, giving Holmdel the early lead. SJV came out in the second half and tied it up at a goal a piece. Junior, Nicholas Zolofra headed in the second goal and Jason Kyriacou locked up the game with one more, his 9th of the year. Holmdel's record is now 12-1-1 (10-1-1).
The Boys next play on Tuesday at home against Red Bank Regional at 5:30 p.m. This will be senior night as Holmdel recognizes Jack Flanagan, Jason Kyriacou, Connor Shields and Matt Swift. Come on out and support the team and recognize our seniors.
The Girls lost a tough one in overtime at home today. SJV beat Holmdel 2-1. Holmdel's sole goal was scored early in the first half on a pass from Gabby Bair to Jessica Moskal. SJV tied it up in the second and was able to slip one in the corner in the beginning of overtime. The Holmdel Girls also clinch, at a minimum, public school champions of Class A Central. The Girls await the outcome of the RBC-Monmouth Regional game on Friday. RBC beat Raritan 3-0 earlier today and will be the non-public champion of Class A Central. However, with a win on Friday, both Holmdel and RBC will have identical divisional records and so should share a co-champion divisional title. The Girls record now stands at 10-3-1 with a record of 9-2-1 in their division. RBC has a record of 12-2-1 and 8-2-1 in the division. Congratulations to the Girls Varsity team.
The Girls are scheduled to play their next game away on Tuesday at Red Bank Regional at 3:45. This is a regularly scheduled non-divisional game.
Both the Boys and Girls Varsity teams qualify for the Shore Conference Tournament (SCT). The seeding for the tournament is due to be announced on Monday and I will post it to this blog once it is available.
I hope you come out and support the teams at their upcoming games next week. I can't wait to see you there.
