Car Burglary Attempt Again Thwarted In Holmdel
Locked doors, security light deter would-be burglar in Falcons Ridge area of Holmdel.
HOLMDEL, NJ — A person driving an SUV recently involved in a theft in Rumson was spotted in Holmdel Friday night, attempting to enter a Holmdel resident's car, police said.
On Aug. 12, a resident on Falcons Ridge Circle called police around 9:47 p.m. to say a person was trying to enter a vehicle in their driveway, police said in a news release.
The person got out of a white SUV that pulled in front of the residence, but was unable to enter the resident's car because it was locked. The person appeared to be scared off by a motion activated light at the house, police said.

Patrols responded to the area and located a white BMW SUV leaving a nearby development. The BMW had been reported stolen from northern New Jersey and was recently involved in a theft in Rumson, police said.
Patrols attempted to stop the vehicle, which fled speeding onto the Garden State Parkway.

Police again remind residents to continue to lock their vehicles and homes and to promptly report all suspicious persons and vehicles to the Holmdel Police Department.
This is the latest of several bold car burglary attempts in the township. On Aug. 10, there were attempts to enter cars in Hayfield Court and Rambling Brook Drive areas, police said, but the attempts failed because cars were locked.
But police noted that "there have been several incidents around New Jersey where these suspects are being frustrated by vehicles being locked and are attempting to see if they can get access to the keys by entering the home."
They stressed the need to lock not only car doors, but to lock garage doors and home entry doors - and take the key fob inside with you.
The township reported other incidents of attempted car burglaries earlier this month that have followed a similar pattern.
