Car Stolen In Holmdel; Suspects Drive Into Tree

Sometime between 10 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday, someone tried to steal an unlocked BMW in Holmdel. However, they hit a tree, cops said.

HOLMDEL, NJ — Sometime between 10 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 someone tried to steal an unlocked BMW SUV from a Holmdel driveway, Holmdel police said. However, they hit a tree as they were backing out of the driveway.

The 2017 BMW X5 was parked in a driveway on Maybern Drive. It was unlocked with the key fob inside, said police.

As the suspects were backing out of driveway, they struck a tree and abandoned the BMW, said police.

However, the keys for a 2019 Jeep Cherokee were also in BMW, so the actors stole the Jeep instead, said Holmdel police.
