Heart disease describes a broad category of diseases, which include cardiovascular conditions: diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis and elevated cholesterol. Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for men and women today.

To prevent heart disease we must be aware of the risks. Smoking, elevated blood sugar, lack of exercise, reduce alcohol intake, elevated blood pressure, obesity, and family history contribute to cardiovascular conditions. Annual physicals and screening exams are the best means to be proactive about heart health.

To promote heart health, it is recommended that you stop smoking, get regular exercise, monitor and manage your blood pressure as well as monitor your cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
