"We are excited to usher in spring with our upcoming town-wide garage sale. It is a fantastic way for residents to meet others in our community while making some extra cash," said Hazlet Mayor Tara Clark. "Our garage sale last fall was a huge success due to the free online registration and the ability for visitors to plan their shopping adventure with our interactive map. We are offering those conveniences again."

Over 200 households participated in the Town-Wide Garage Sale last October, according to a post on the municipal website.
“For many, it was a successful day of selling and chatting with visitors, a welcome respite after months of social isolation as we endured the pandemic,” the post reads. “Some of us made a little change, some of us cleared out some space and some of us did a little shopping ourselves.”
The Hazlet Library commission will also be hosting a spring book sale during the event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in front of the Hazlet Library. Locals are asked to bring their own bags with small bills.
Residents are asked to follow CDC guidelines during the event to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
"We had more than 200 households participate in our last town-wide garage sale and everyone abided by the safety protocols," Clark added. "We do ask that shoppers abide by COVID safety guidelines; wear a mask and be mindful of staying socially distanced. We also ask that sellers organize their tables in a way that allows visitors to browse displays easily without having to dig through items."
