Several fundraisers will also be featured, including a Cub Scouts Halloween Tombstones sale at Middle Road School, a JDRF Fundraiser at a home on Winthrop Place and a sale at 3 Hearts 4 Paws Animal Rescue on Virginia Avenue.

"Hopefully, this event will help bring a little normalcy back to our community," Hazlet Township Mayor Mike Glackin wrote in an email to Patch. "This year, the registration process was automated so that signups were free. Because of this, we have more people signed up this year than any past year."

The township library will also be offering books for less than a dollar from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hazlet branch’s Middle Road location. Socially-distant tables will be set up with soft covers going for 25 cents and hardcover books for 50 cents apiece. Shoppers are asked to bring face masks, small bills/change and a sturdy bag. All proceeds will benefit improvements at the Hazlet Library.

Hazlet Township recommends that all garage sale participants follow CDC guidance and practice social distancing. The Hazlet Township Police Department has been alerted to the big sale day and will keep an eye on traffic flow, according to a social media post.

"It is a great event for our town, especially this year, because it is flexible which allows everyone to participate at the level they feel comfortable," continued Glackin. "We urge everyone participating, either as buyers or sellers, to follow CDC guidelines on how to protect yourself and others while in public."
