Holmdel Boys and Girls Soccer both win big against Monmouth Regional

Bouncing back nicely from the disappointing loss to RFH on Monday, Holmdel's Boys Varsity soccer traveled to Monmouth Regional and left with a resounding 6-0 victory.  Sophomore Rohan Gandhi scored the first goal within the first ten minutes of the first half.  Gino D'Agostino followed with the next goal , Eric D'Aleo scored the third and the Hornets ended the half up 3-0.

The second half was more of the same for Holmdel.  Brendan Wall had a big half, scoring one on an assist from D'Agostino and assisting on the next two goals, both by senior Jason Kyriacou.  Goalkeeper Tyler Marchiano recorded his third shut out of the season well protected by his defense: Connor Shields, Nicholas Zolofra and Brian Healy, Rob Ceriello and Dante Marino.

Holmdel's record improves to 3-1.  The Boys Varsity team play their next game Saturday at home against Red Bank Catholic at 2 pm.  RBC just suffered their first loss today against RFH 5-1 (Note the time change of this game from an earlier schedule).  Bring the kids out in blue and root on our team.

Meanwhile, at Roggy field, the Girls Varsity team is off to their best start in years soundly beating Monmouth Regional 4-0.  The girls are now a perfect 4-0!

It took about 15 minutes for Senior forward Jessica Moskal to connect for the first goal but after that it was all Holmdel.  Hannah Lee scored next with an assist from Jayne DePontes.  Moskal scored again to send the Hornets into halftime up 3-0.
In the second half, Antonia Arena added one more to give the girls the convincing 4-0 win.  Goalkeepers Helen Burleigh and Kelly Dronne combined for the shutout.

The Girls Varsity play again Friday at Red Bank Catholic at 3:45 pm.  RBC is 2-1 having lost to RFH earlier today.  It's always exciting to have fans cheer the team on so come on over to RBC's home field to watch the game.  I'll see you there.
