Holmdel HYAA Wrestlers Celebrate at Year End Party

HYAA also announces sign-ups for a wrestling clinic beginning April 4 - June 1 at the High School. By Andrew Pinnero.

 

Holmdel's HYAA wrestling team held its annual year end party on Tuesday, March 6th at the Senior Center. The event was held to celebrate the successful season and was attended by friends and family of the team.

The HYAA wrestling team is made up of school age children up thru the 8th grade.  The team's head coach is Jim Ilvento. Jim was assisted this year by coaches Scott Dupont and Andrew Pinnero.  The team worked hard over the last few months and ended its season by placing third in its division in the Jersey Shore Junior Wrestling League.

 During the year end party each team member was given a trophy that signified their accomplishments for the season.  Six wrestlers were also given special recognition and  trophies for their work during competition and in the practice room, namely:

  • Scott Dupont – The “Hammer” Trophy
  • Brian Frothingham – The “Novice” Trophy
  • Dean Gallo – The “Drill Master” Trophy
  • Troy Gallo – The “MVP” Trophy
  • Garret Hillshiemer – The “Most Improved Wrestler” Trophy
  • Alexander Lamberti – The “Competitor” Trophy

In addition to these awards special thanks were given to Dana Dupont who was "Team Mom" this season, Isabella Pinnero who filled the role as “Team Score Keeper”, Mike Bair who assisted with timekeeping /scoring and Troy Gallo who assisted with the team throughout the course of the season.

For those children interested in Holmdel wrestling there will be a spring clinic. HYAA will be conducting the clinic for grades 1-11. The program will begin April 4th and run through June 1st. Sessions will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:30-7pm at the High School wrestling room. No sessions on April 6, 11, 13 May 25.
