Holmdel PD Offers Car Seat Checks This Friday

Holmdel PD is doing a child seat event this Friday, July 28, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Centerville Road First Aid Building.

HOLMDEL, NJ — Do you need police to install your car seat? Or perhaps you got the car seat in place, but you just want to make sure it's installed correctly.

The Holmdel Police Department will be conducting a child seat event this Friday, July 28, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Centerville Road First Aid Building. Stop by to have your installed car seats checked or for assistance with installing a new child seat.

Car seat safety is a serious matter. Here are two recent incidents just this year near Holmdel where a child in an improper car seat was injured:

Baby in North Brunswick Crash Was Not in Car Seat, Police Confirm - This happened in March of this year. The six-month-old baby survived, but was critically injured in the crash on Rt. 130. He was not secured in a car seat at the time of impact, police said.

Baby Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries In Tinton Falls Parkway Crash - This happened July 9, 2017. The 1-year-old girl was ejected in a car crash on the Garden State Parkway. She was in a booster seat, not an infant car seat. A booster seat is only for children ages 4 and up.
