Holmdel Swim Team Celebrates End of Season
Team and individual swimmers are recognized for best times.
The mood was festive at the Holmdel Swim Club on July 7th as the Holmdel Hurricanes Swim Team wrapped up their season. Family members joined the swimmers and coaches as they celebrated the team's success.
The Holmdel Hurricanes finished the with a 3-4 record. While the record may not be a winning record, it was a successful season, stressed Ruth Davis, who is completing her first year as head coach. “It was a great season. Lots of swimmers’ times improved and fun was had by all,” said Coach Davis.
Individual age groups were recognized for highest score during the season’s dual meets in the Monmouth County Swim League:

Girls (8years and under) 2nd Place
Boys (8 years and under) 3rd Place

Girls (9/10 years old) 1st Place
Girls (15-18 years old) 1st place.
Team members were each awarded a participation trophy and swimmers obtaining the highest score for the season were awarded the MVP for their age bracket. A Most Improved Award was given to a swimmer in each age group who shortened their time the most during the season.
Ribbons and medals were distributed to swimmers under 12 for their performance in the Championship Meets on July 23th and 24th. Swimmers 13 and older will compete in their Championships on August 1st.
The team bid a fond farewell to Megan Healy, 13-year team member and assistant coach, and Michael Brooks, who has been on the team since elementary school. They will be leaving for college.
Following awards, the party continued with parent/child swim relays where the children showed who in the family can really swim.
