The Holmdel Girls Varsity team continued it's winning ways with a dominant 4-0 win over cross town rival Raritan on Thursday night in Hazlet.
Jessica Moskal scored twice, for her 8th and 9th goals of the year, on assists from Gabby Bair and Lizzie Zelina. Antonia Arena scored next, on another assist from Gabby Bair, and Claudia Collyer scored the fourth goal of the half, and, as it turned out, the final goal of the game, for the Hornets. Goalkeepers Helen Burleigh and Kelly Dronne combined for the Holmdel shutout. The Hornets are now an impressive 8-1 (8-1-0;7-0-0) on the season so far.
Girls Varsity plays next on Saturday, at home, against Rumson. The two teams met earlier this season and Holmdel squeaked out the overtime victory. Please come out for the 3 pm game and support the home town team.
Meanwhile, the Boys Varsity hosted the Rockets at Roggy field tonight to a 0-0 tie after double overtime. Despite, possessing the ball for the majority of the game, Holmdel couldn't get the ball past Raritan's keeper to come away with a win. Raritan came into this game 5-2-1, with a prior loss to Holmdel and their previous tie to Rumson. Holmdel's record is now 7-1-1.
Holmdel faces Rumson, away at Rumson-Fair Haven High School, on Saturday at 4 pm. This may be the biggest game of the season, so far, for the Hornets. A victory on Saturday will bring Holmdel into a tie with Rumson for the top spot in the A-Central division. A big crowd may help cheer the boys on to victory, so if you are free, please come on over to Rumson and support our team. I wouldn't miss it. I'll see you there.
