New Principal For Indian Hill School In Holmdel

The Holmdel Township Board of Education held a special emergency meeting Monday night, July 3, to appoint a new principal for Indian Hill.

HOLMDEL, NJ — The Holmdel Township Board of Education held a special emergency meeting Monday night, July 3, to appoint a new principal for Indian Hill School. This comes after former Indian Hill principal Dr. Tali Axelrod left the district last week to become Superintendent of the Alpine School in Bergen County.

Superintendent Robert McGarry recommended current Holmdel High School Assistant Principal Lisa Marino for the job, selecting her from a pool of more than 125 candidate. The interview process involved several steps, including an interview with current members of the Indian Hill community. The Board of Ed. followed Dr. McGarry's recommendation and chose Marino, pictured above.

While Marino has served the district as an administrator for grades 7-12 for many years, she started her career in education as an elementary teacher, with the majority of her teaching experience within 4th and 5th grade classrooms. Indian Hill School houses students in grades 4-6.

Marino also served as an Assistant Principal within this grade-span in Manalapan before joining the Holmdel district in 2009 as Assistant Principal of the William R. Satz School. She holds two masters degrees in Education, a Master of Art in Teaching from Pace University and a Master of Science in Education from Monmouth University.

“One of the reasons that our school district and our schools operate as smoothly as they do is because of the excellent assistant principals we have," Dr. McGarry said. “I am pleased that we were able to look within and recognize the talent and expertise that we already possess to continue to drive our district forward. I am so pleased that Ms. Marino has chosen to advance her career with us and to extend her many skills to yet another one of our schools."
