The Holmdel Boys, the A Central Champions, were scheduled to play Red Bank Regional today, but a quick substitution was made as RBR prepares for the Shore Conference Tournament (SCT) on Thursday. Instead, the Boys played Middletown South today defeating them by a score of 2-0. As Holmdel has done so many times this season, Jack Flanagan scored the first goal for Holmdel quickly, in the first 50 seconds, and Santo Arena added a second score in the second half. Goalkeeper, Tyler Marchiano earned his 8 th shut out of the year. The Boys are 13-1-1 (10-1-1).
The Boys, the #2 seed in the SCT, will play Saturday morning at home around 10 am (game time was not yet confirmed) against the winner of Point Boro and Toms River East. The top 7 boys teams have a first round bye, so Holmdel does not play until Saturday.
Both Holmdel teams have been awarded home games in the preliminary SCT rounds, as the team with the higher seeding will remain the home team until the semi-final round. The semi-finals and finals with both be played at a neutral field which will be in Neptune.
The girls lost a non-conference game away at Red Bank Regional today 3-1.(10-4-1)(9-2-1). The Girls, Class A Central Champions, look to put the end of the season losses aside and focus on their upcoming SCT game on Friday. The Girls were the fifth seed, and after a first round bye, will play the winner of Point Boro and Colts Neck at home on Friday. Game time will be late afternoon/early evening but was not yet available.
