This February will be the first Turner Syndrome Awareness Month in the state of New Jersey and to commemorate this special month, the Turner Syndrome Foundation will be hosting a book talk for a recently published children’s book written by the mother-daughter team of Carole and Kate Volz. Kate is a 20 year old diagnosed at the age of nine with Turner Syndrome and illustrated the book. Kate is very excited about meeting other young women with Turner Syndrome and Carole hopes that increased exposure for the book will lead to more proceeds directed towards the foundation to support its research initiatives.
This book talk is designed to build a sense of community for patients with Turner Syndrome and their families and allow them to meet others with the same condition. This will be one of the first events in the new corporate office of the Turner Syndrome Foundation, a nationally based nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness and advocating for the 1 in 2000 females who have Turner Syndrome. Snacks and refreshments will be provided to guests at this event.
The book “Tiggy Finds a Home” is the story of a kitten’s adventures with her new human family. It is based on real experiences that occurred when the Volz family adopted their first cat. It is the first book in what will be a small series about Tiggy’s adventures. It is written for a K-5 reading level but focused on a third to fourth grade level.

What inspired Carole to pursue writing? She spent twenty years working in the corporate world and wanted to find time to be creative. Writing a book had been a dream of hers since Kate’s birth. The 36 page book is published by First Edition Design Publishing and is available as a hardcover or e-book wherever books and e-books are sold.
The book talk will be held on Saturday, February 8, from 1-3 pm at the Turner Syndrome Foundation’s office located at 1 Bethany Road, Building 1, Suite 5, Courtyard One entrance, Hazlet, NJ.
