Toddler Left In Car In Secaucus, Police Say

A Jersey City woman was arrested Friday in the parking lot of the Secaucus TJ Maxx, after police said she left her toddler alone in the car.

SECAUCUS, NJ — A 43-year-old Jersey City woman was arrested this past Friday in the parking lot of the Secaucus TJ Maxx, after police said she left her toddler alone in the car for an unknown period of time.

Secaucus police were called to the TJ Maxx just before 2 p.m. on Friday, May 4 for an unrelated incident. A police officer found the 22-month-old child alone in the car, police said, and the woman was arrested. She told police she had just gone into the TJ Maxx to use the bathroom.

She was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. It is not known how long the child had been in the car for, police told Patch.

Friday, May 4 was unseasonably warm, with temperatures peaking at 88 degrees in the area on Friday afternoon, according to AccuWeather.

The woman's identity was not released by Secaucus police.
