1 Killed In Fiery, Fatal 6-Car N.J. Highway Wreck That Injured 10: Cops

More details were revealed after a person was killed in a fiery, 6-car N.J. crash on Friday morning, closing a major highway, police said.

State Police said a woman killed in a fiery 6-car crash on Friday morning was "engulfed by flames" and killed in the wreck.

The accident, which happened at 6:09 a.m. on Route 206 mile marker 127.4 in Montague on Friday, happened after a Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck stopped on the right shoulder, according to the State Police.

Ten people were injured in the accident, and all were treated at local hospitals.

A Ford van traveling on right shoulder rear-ended the pick-up, overturned and then struck a parked unoccupied Ford Fusion. That car then struck a Ford Focus, which then struck an unoccupied Chrysler, police said.

The Chrysler struck another unoccupied Chrysler car. At that point, which had been driven by an unidentified woman, engulfed in flames, police said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident happened in Sussex County, closing a miles-long section of the road in both directions around 7 a.m.
