Jackson had transported 20 bricks of heroin to Hopatcong from Paterson while riding in a taxi, according to a police report shortly following the arrest.

After he had sold the drugs to the officers near River Styx Grill, Lt. Thomas Kmetz said, the officers attempted to arrest Jackson. Jackson ran from the police toward Ithanell Road where he was caught and arrested, according to Kmetz. Police then learned that Jackson was on parole.
