24-Year-Old Arrested After DWI Crash In Sparta: Police

A DWI-related crash was reported by Sparta Police earlier this week.

According to police, on July 5 around 1:20 a.m., police were dispatched to East Shore Trail in the area of Twin Elm Terrace for the report of a crash.

When they arrived, a 2014 Nissan was on the front lawn of a residence on East Shore Trail. The vehicle was disabled and had heavy front end damage after hitting a rock wall and utility pole across the street from the residence, police said.

The driver, 24-year-old Kyle A. Gerth from Layton, was determined by police to be under the influence of alcohol. He failed field sobriety tests, was arrested for DWI and transported to headquarters for processing, according to officers with the Sparta Police Department.

Gerth has been charged with DWI, careless driving, open container of alcohol in motor vehicle and failure to maintain lane.
