Affordable Housing Coming to Byram Townshp
Morris Habitat for Humanity Accepting Applications for Affordable Housing in Byram Township

Applications are now being accepted from low income applicants for a three-bedroom home to be renovated at 14 Belton Street, in Byram Township, New Jersey. Once completed, the home will be sold as affordable housing to the selected applicant. An affordable 30-year mortgage will be provided by Morris Habitat for Humanity. The sale price is $130,000 with an estimated monthly mortgage of $800. The house will have a 30-year deed restriction that allows modest equity upon resale, but mandates that it be sold at an affordable price to another income-eligible family.
The home will be rebuilt from the studs, with a new roof, siding and septic system. The home will be built to Energy Star requirements and will have propane gas and public water. The main level features two bedrooms, one bathroom, eat-in kitchen and living room. The lower level has one bedroom, recreation room, laundry room and a garage.
“Home is the key,” said Morris Habitat for Humanity CEO, Blair Schleicher Bravo. “Our homeownership program does more than put roofs over people’s heads.”
