Just a brief note for our borough residents. Often times these sudden out of the blue storms increase the chances of basement flooding. Melting snow piles, snow poorly removed and placed over drains, and ice, often clog drains that would normally dissipate the accumulated water from the snow. We often land up visiting homes that normally do not have a flooding problem when the homeowners unexpectadly land up with a home filled with water because of poorly shoveled driveways and ice clogged drains. If you create a large snow pile at the bottom of a driveway which is sloped towards the home, make sure to create an opening where any water can drain into your yard and not your garage or basement. We love to help but the best way to help is for all of our residents to be proactive and perform preventative measures to save themselves from these stressful situations.
