Why Doesn’t Hopatcong Post The Sussex County Congregate Nutrition Service Site Flyer on their Bulletin Board and Town Webpage?
Hopatcong provides few details about the Congregate Nutrition Site Program in our Town

Did you know that Hopatcong has transformed its own Municipal Senior Center into a Sussex County Congregate Nutrition Site open to ALL
Seniors in Sussex County each weekday? I didn’t know this until I stumbled upon
the Sussex County Division of Senior Services website.

This was a very informative site that clearly explained the sponsors of this program. I always thought that the Senior Daytime Program was a Hopatcong Senior Program. I guess I assumed this because many of or our Town Officials like to visit the guests of their tenants often during this leased program time.
Boy was I misinformed. Each weekday Hopatcong leases our Community Building to these non municipal charitable tenants. Who are these tenants that are leasing our building for the major part of the day? They are the Sussex County Division of Senior Services and Catholic Family & Community Services CFCS. I am told that this a very good nutrition program because some of our own Town
officials even have their family participating in this charitable food service program. Here is some important information about this program:

“Currently, four congregate nutrition sites exist in Sussex County with daily meals provided at Franklin, Hopatcong, Newton and Vernon. A notice of at least 24 hours is required at each site to reserve a meal for the following day's meal. The menus are published every Sunday in the Lifestyle Section of the New Jersey Herald. The Congregate Nutrition Program is funded through federal and county funding."

The Catholic Family and Community Service provide a friendly
flyer on their website http://sussexcountyagingservices.org/wordpress/?page_id=172. You will not find the link to this flyer on our Hopatcong.org directory. I wonder why? This flyer is very easy to read and it also provides information on other functions the CFCS provides during the day. Not only do these Congregate sites provide food service to our Hopatcong and County Seniors they also provide activities such as:
• Regular nutritionist visits
• Exercise classes
• Guest speakers
• Cards – Bingo – Games
• Trips
• Dancing – Sing-a-longs
• Health screenings (foot clinic??)
• Socializing with friends
• Walking
• Computer access
Hold on this info because you will not find these details on our Hopatcong.org Municipal Government website. If you have relative or friend that is a Sussex County Resident that can benefit from this program give them this contact info:

You do not have to support any religion or political party to participate at this site center. Sussex County also provides bus transportation to these sites.
I wonder when the Mayor says she loves to talk to her seniors at the Senior Center, is she referring to the Municipal programs they have for our Hopatcong Seniors after 2PM?
Did you know that we have a County food program for seniors in our town? Did you know that it was NOT sponsored by our Town? Do you think most people are not aware of the real sponsors of this program? Should our Town to a better job in broadcasting this program and providing seniors and others the details of this beneficial program?
