Police say they captured a barricaded suspected in New Jersey overnight Wednesday and Thursday.

Police say they captured a barricaded suspected in New Jersey overnight Wednesday and Thursday.

The incident involved a person who barricaded himself inside a home and would not come out for the officers, police said.

The incident happed on Tulsa Trail at 7:42 p.m. Wednesday in Hopatcong that shut down surrounding roads and took several hours to resolve, police said.

"It is protocol for police to call out the State Police TEAMS unit to assist in these situations," said Lt. Thomas Kmetz. "This took a few hours. During this time the surrounding roads were closed."

The subject, who was not identifed, eventually came out. He was arrested and later placed in the Sussex County Jail, Kmetz aaid.

"I cannot comment on this situation any further as per laws governing what can be released," he said.

But he did add in a statement:

"It is important that any false rumors on social media are squashed. I am writing this to do exactly that. This turned out to be an isolated incident that did not affect the safety of the community. However, the community's safety is paramount. The roads were closed to ensure that."
