BRIEF: Monday's School Board Meeting Preview

Expect short agenda, few surprises.

The Hopatcong Board of Education will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the . And if last week's work session agenda was any indication, tonight's meeting shouldn't be too earth-shattering.

Here are a few of things to expect:

School board goals: Last week, the BOE talked about continuing last year's main objective: "Cope with the economic impact affecting the Hopatcong school district and continue to provide quality education to its students." Board members also discussed addressing other conduct issues at several schools—such as dress code and smoking at the high school—and improving community outreach.

Student reps: The school board is expected to approve a policy allowing pupil representatives to the school board. The requirements: must be either a high school sophomore or a junior with a 3.0 GPA or better. Among other requirements, they also must be excluded from school board executive sessions, participate in board discussions and represent the views of the student body.

Football talk: The Hopatcong Warriors are expected to attend Monday night's meeting to address recent discussions with high-ranking school members about field issues.
