Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, located at 246 Woodport Road, Sparta, NJ is excited to welcome children and families for a week of fun and faith at Vacation Bible School 2026: “Rainforest Falls” running from July 20 – 24, 2026, 9 AM to 12 PM, this engaging program brings church members and the community together to enjoy crafts, games, snacks, and activity stations, each centered around a daily Bible story.
Children ages 4 (must be toilet-trained) through 5th grade (completed) are invited to attend, while youth (6th grade and up) and adults are encouraged to help lead stations and volunteer—whether for a day or the full week.

Metal Church return with their 13th studio album, “Dead To Rights”, scheduled for release on April 10 via Rat Pak Records (America), Reaper (Europe/UK) and Rubicon (Japan). The album marks the first release from the band’s latest lineup, featuring founding guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof alongside longtime guitarist Rick Van Zandt, joined by bass icon David Ellefson, powerhouse drummer Ken Mary and dynamic new vocalist Brian Allen. From the aggressive opening assault of “Brainwash Game” to the riff-driven finale “My Wrath,” Metal Church prove they still possess the same relentless drive that has earned them fans for over four decades. Tracks such as “Deep Cover Shakedown,” “The Show,” and “Wasted Time” deliver the signature sound the band has long been known for. The album’s first single, “F.A.F.O.”, was released last November, with its accompanying video surpassing 400,000 views to date. Dead To Rights was produced by Vanderhoof and mixed and mastered by Zeuss at Planet Z. 
Heathen is an American thrash metal band originating from San Francisco, California, and is often seen as one of the leaders of the Bay Area thrash metal scene.Founded in 2023, All Sinners emerged from the vibrant rock scene of Boston, Mass. This four-piece band masterfully blends 80s rock influences with a fresh, high-energy sound that connects instantly with listeners.

This unique, interactive experience invites the community into an evening designed to inspire imagination, creativity, and connection. Three sittings will be offered—5:00 - 6:00 PM, 7:00–8:00 PM and 9:00–10:00 PM—allowing families and individuals to choose a time that works best for them. Parking is limited, carpooling with friends or family is greatly appreciated.

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church to Host “Lumos” on August 1

Adrian Vandenberg is one of rock’s finest yet most underrated guitarists, known for his melodic fire, songwriting chops and four decades of influence. His band Vandenberg first hit the UK in 1982 on the Michael Schenker Group tour, turning heads with a debut album recorded at Jimmy Page’s Sol Studios and packed with hard‑rock standouts like “Ready for You,” “Your Love Is in Vain” and “Wait.” In 1983, “Burning Heart” became a major U.S. hit, leading to tours with KISS and Ozzy Osbourne and two more albums, “Heading for a Storm” and “Alibi”. Everything changed when Vandenberg played the iconic solo on Whitesnake’s 1987 smash “Here I Go Again.” He joined the band full‑time in 1986, co‑writing “Slip of the Tongue” and “Restless Heart” and helping drive Whitesnake through a 12‑year run of global success, sold‑out arenas and millions of albums sold.
Bassist Marco Mendoza has recorded and toured with some of the biggest names in music such as David Coverdale, Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Ted Nugent, Neal Schon, Dolores O’Riordan of the Cranberries and more. Self-described ‘guitar freak’ Vinnie Moorerecorded and toured as a member of Alice Cooper’s band. He joined the legendary group UFO in 2023.

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, located at 246 Woodport Road in Sparta, is delighted to announce a special musical performance by Bill McGowan of Pushingstone at an outdoor summer concert on Friday, August 21, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. (In the event of rain, the concert will be held indoors.)
McGowan, a self‑taught Christian musician, is known for his heartfelt, scripture‑inspired compositions. His music blends storytelling, reflection, and New Testament themes, especially the stories of women in scripture, creating a deeply personal and spiritually rich experience for listeners.
