Contractor Hid Camera In Shower At NJ Home With A Child: Cops

The NJ man hid a camera in the bathroom and captured the family – including a child – on video for "sexual gratification," police said.

A contractor was arrested after he recently hid a camera inside a New Jersey home – and captured everybody while they were bathing on video, including a child, police said.

The electrician, Joseph J. Krenicky, 47, of the Glenwood section of Vernon, was hired to work inside a Sussex County home where he set up a hidden camera inside the family's home and filmed several people, police announced on Friday.

Krenicky, 47, was arrested on Nov. 9 and faces three counts of third-degree invasion of privacy and a second-degree charge of endangering the welfare of a child engaged in a sexual act, police said.

After Krenicky was arrested, he admitted he recorded the videos for sexual gratification, police said.

The camera was discovered on Nov. 9 after a male resident told officers he woke up around 10:30 a.m. and entered the basement bathroom to take a shower. The bathroom was under construction, police said.

The male resident saw a black box labeled "power bank" that was mixed among the tools and pointed toward the shower stall, police said. An SD card that carries memories of photos and videos was inside the device, police said.

The male resident, who was not identified, did some research and determined that the device was a camera, police said. The resident confronted Krenicky, who denied knowing about the device, Krenicky also reacted in a peculiar and awkward manner while still managing to resume his work, police said.

By the time State Police had arrived to investigate, Krenicky had left. Police took the SD card and later discovered the video. Soon after, the State Police searched Krenicky's residence and discovered additional recordings, showing members of the household including the child, police said.

Krenicky was lodged in the Sussex County Jail but has since been released. He is expected to appear in state Superior Cour on Dec. 10, police said.
