Dirt Bikes Banned On Hopatcong Streets, Police Warn

Police issued the warning after a resident told police they'd "have to catch me" to issue him a summons for doing so.

HOPATCONG, NJ — Dirt bikes are banned on Hopatcong streets, police reminded residents, after they say a local grandfather told police they would have to catch him to get him in any trouble.

On Sunday police received complaints about dirt bikes driving up and down Benjamin Road. A woman walking on the street told police she saw a green dirt bike on the road earlier.

When police found the bike and its owner, the owner said eh and his grandson had driven them up the street to the woods earlier. The officer reminded the grandfather and the boy's mother that dirt bikes should be walked, not driven to the woods, otherwise the bikes could be impounded and summonses could be issues.
