Do or Dye Color Run Raises Money for American Cancer
Mount Olive Recreation hosts a family friendly 5K color run/walk to raise money for the American Cancer Society on April 25th, 2015.

The GBW Insurance Do or Dye 5K Fun Run/Walk is about coming out to enjoy a day with your friends and family and getting blasted with color but this fun activity is also about promoting a healthy lifestyle and raising money for a good cause. Similar to last year, this year’s event will benefit the American Cancer Society with participants raising funds through individual pledge sheets. The 2014 event successfully raised $6,600 for the American Cancer Society.
“This is not your typical 5K,” Jill Daggon, Recreation Supervisor, said. “Nor is it just another fundraising event.” The GBW Insurance Do or Dye Fun Run/Walk is for participants of all levels, even those who hate running! There is no age limit, whether young or old, in fact we encourage parents with strollers, but Mount Olive Recreation does offer safety recommendations on their website for young children. “The main objective is to get active, have fun getting colorful, and raise monies for the American Cancer Society,” stated Daggon.
Runners will be asked to register online, then use a pledge sheet to collect donations for the American Cancer Society. The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and services. All monies fundraised through this effort will go directly to the American Cancer Society. Athletes will turn in their envelopes to the American Cancer Society staff at the event.

Participants should wear as much white as possible so that throughout the course they can get splattered with paint creating a work of art in motion. The course will begin and end in Turkey Brook Park using a paved course along Flanders Road which will be closed to traffic for the duration of the event.
