Fisher Who Fell Through Ice Rescued By Hopatcong Police, Firefighters

He was taken to a nearby hospital.

HOPATCONG, NJ— Hopatcong Police and Fire rescued a fisherman who fell through the ice Sunday morning.

The ice fisherman fell through into the Crescent Cove lake around 2:18 p.m., when temperatures were in the low 60s, police said.

Hopatcong Police Officer Edward Janosko and Hopatcong Fireman Wade Crowley both jumped into the lake wearing ice rescue suits to keep the fisherman afloat until he could be rescued.

The fire department pulled the fisherman from the water, and he was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution, police said.
