The non-profit German Language School of Morris County (GLSMC), http://www.glsmc.org, celebrated the end of the 2014 school year with student performances, presentations, and national awards for language proficiency.
Principal Michaela Greco and the School’s Board of Trustees presented awards and certificates to students who passed the National German Language Exam, the German Language Diploma, and books from the German Consulate’s annual Book Awards program. They also inducted 11 students into the National German Honor Society and National Junior German Honor Society, respectively during the ceremony.

“We are very proud of the more than 180 students currently enrolled in our classes,” said Principal Greco. “Learning another language helps students with their native language development, grammar and comprehension, as well as the opportunity to meet people from variety of traditions and cultures.”

Exams Offer Access to European Universities & Technical Schools
Students at the school travel up to an hour weekly to Morristown to attend weekly German language classes and celebrate year-round cultural programs.
Each year these students take the National German Exam, which is administered by the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG) to 23,000 students nationwide. The exam, which recognizes verbal and written proficiency in three levels of Germans, assesses test comprehension, reading and conversational skills, and applied structure of grammar and idioms in context. GLSMC, a Partner School (Pasch-Schule) with the German Federal Republic’s Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA), also tests students at six levels of proficiency to earn the German Language Diploma. Students who demonstrate higher levels of comprehension and communication are eligible to study at universities and technical schools throughout the German-speaking nations of Europe. Annually, the German Consulate in New York City recognizes student achievement with gifts of age-appropriate German language books.
