Police said EMS crews are working tirelessly, but if they come across a patient with symptoms they need time to sterilize the ambulance.

"For a call such as knee pain or a rash, etc. you are putting yourself at risk at catching the virus," they said. "Do not put yourself at risk for something you can control."

Authorities urged residents that if they believe they have symptoms of COVID-19 is to call their primary care physician or the Nurse Screening Hotline at 1-862-260-3199.

"Remember, your first resource is your primary care doctor, who knows you best. Please contact your doctor if you have symptoms that would usually result in your making an appointment, including fever, cough, and shortness of breath," police said. "If you don’t have a primary care physician, you can schedule a virtual visit or find a doctor in your area."
