Hopatcong Farmers' Market Ready for Big Weekend
Boasting 24 vendors and music, the borough event shows no signs of slowing down.

Hopatcong Borough Hall is alive with the tastes of summer with fresh vegetables, fruits and flowers and a wide variety of other food vendors available all summer in Hopatcong.
Hopatcong Mayor Sylvia Petillo along with Councilman Michael Francis officially opened the Hopatcong Farmers Market at the Borough Hall parking lot on Sunday, June 17, at 9:00 a.m. to kick off the market season in Hopatcong. Both can be seen handing out free Reusable Shopping Bags for shoppers to load up with produce on Sunday’s. The market is continuing to thrive and grow with new vendors being added each week as well as musical entertainment.

“We want the Hopatcong Farmer’s Market to not only bring healthy farm-fresh produce to residents but to also serve as a vibrant community gathering that reflects our surrounding neighborhood.” said Mayor Petillo.
The Farmer’s Market boasts 24 vendors brimming with farm-fresh produce such as spinach and lettuces, Jersey tomatoes, carrots, peppers, berries and herbs, grass-fed beef, pork, chicken and lamb, fresh cheeses, delicious breads, farm fresh eggs, teas, honey, cookies, crumb cakes and other specialty foods every Sunday through September 30 from 9am – 2pm. It is conveniently located in the parking lot at the corner of River Styx Road and Hopatchung Road at the Municipal Building.

“Our Farmers Market is the place where you can buy locally grown goods, support local farmers, promote healthy living and the environment, while also helping to energize our borough,” said Michael Francis, Councilman and weekly volunteer.

Sparta Mountain Farm of Sparta – Fresh eggs
Hidden Pastures Alpacas of Branchville – Blankets, socks and various products made from spun Alpaca fur, provide wool spinning demonstrations

Christy Rehe, the borough’s new Farmer’s Market Coordinator adds: “We are really excited about having created ‘the total market’ experience for customers by offering them healthy food choices to family entertainment. It’s wonderful to see so many familiar faces returning each week to shop and support local businesses.”
