Hopatcong Runner Shows Off at Sectionals

Hopatcong's Courtney Macaluso impressed at the NJSIAA winter track North 1, Group 1 championships in Toms River Wednesday.

Macaluso, a junior, took fourth in the 55-meter dash in 7.73 and fifth in the 400-meter run in a personal-best 1:02.79. Macaluso scored six points for the Chiefs.

doesn't have a winter track program, but Macaluso was allowed to perform on its behalf. Teacher Kathy LaRosa served as Macaluso's coach for the event.

Macaluso qualified for next Saturday's Group 1 championships in the 55 and the 400 by placing in the top six of each event. Since LaRosa can't coach Macaluso at the Group 1 championships due to scheduling conflicts, the runner will need another Hopatcong staff member to act as her coach.
