Hopatcong School Gets $500 Grant

Tulsa Trail project rakes in reward.

was one of three schools awarded the New Jersey Math, Science & Technology Grant Award.

John Anderson, area manager for Jersey Central Power & Light presented Tulsa Trail principal Joanne Mullane with a $500 check for the Tulsa Trail School "Putting Energy First” project.

The setting for the project will be a simulated location that resembles the Australian Outback. It will be an educational community event that expands upon the second-grade science curriculum and enriches third graders’ knowledge of electricity and energy transfer through interdisciplinary problem-based learning. During the event, students will be introduced to the steps of the engineering process while acquiring and applying the concepts of electricity and energy transfer.

The project will be launched sometime in the spring.
