Hopatcong Schools Raise More Than $1K For Japan
Hudson Maxim, Tulsa Trail give to Red Cross, teach students about tragedy.

Earlier this month, Tulsa Trail and Hudson Maxim elementary schools began a fundraiser for those affected by the double-whammy disaster in Japan.
School counselor Lisa Schuffenhauer said she couldn't be happier with its success. Schuffenhauer said the program raised $1,069, with $612 coming from Tulsa Trail and $457 from Hudson Maxim.
The schools, in conjunction with the police department, collected donations at their main offices. The money went to the Red Cross' disaster relief fund.

Hudson Maxim teacher Cindi Parello said she had the idea for the program while watching footage of the tsunami and earthquake.
"This community is so good about reaching out to each other within the community, so I just knew that they would want to be part of this, too," Parello said at the time.
