Hopatcong Schools Take 4th Straight Closure

Looks like Hopatcong children are getting an unexpected fall break.

Borough schools will close Thursday due to power outages at two of the district's five schools. The weekend's snowstorm has forced children to stay home all week.

Earlier on Wednesday, Superintendent Dr. Charles Maranzano said it could be until Monday before Jersey Central Power & Light restores all power to the district.

Maranzano also said that while the district typically adds extra days at the end of the year to account for snow days, it might explore adjusting its schedule if the winter forces more off time.
