Hopatcong Woman Gets $1K Scholarship

Education major Jessica Parigi: 'I've always loved children.'

Jessica Parigi is an excellent student. Or at least that's what Centenary College says.

Parigi, an education student, received a $1,000 Doris L. Moore Scholarship for students demonstrating academic excellence and commitment to elementary education.

“I am so honored to receive this Scholarship,” Parigi said in a release.  “It is a good motivation to finish strong academically next semester.”

“I have always loved children. During my journey in determining my career path, I discovered that to really make a difference in their lives, I needed to be in the classroom with them every day."

Parigi is completing a practicum at Byram Lakes Elementary School, where she's created lesson plans and taught kindergarteners. She'll return in the fall to complete her student teaching in a fourth-grade class.
