Low Flying Planes Over Hopatcong Tuesday For Mosquito Spraying
The mosquito spray wont affect residential areas, but you might see the planes.
HOPATCONG, NJ— Low flying planes will be spotted over parts of Sussex County, including Hopatcong, Tuesday. The planes will be administering insecticide over unpopulated areas targeting mosquito larvae, Hopatcong Police Lt. Kmetz said in a statement.
Between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m. the Sussex County Division of Health's Office of Mosquito Control will be spraying a special bacteria to control larva growth. It will only be applied to uninhabited wetland areas.
The planes will fly over residential areas, but will not be applying any product there. It is not a liquid or aerosol spray; the spray is corn-based. The towns affected are: Vernon, Wantage, Hardyston, Sussex, Hopatcong, Newton, Hampton and Lafayette.
