A guest at a New Jersey hotel hosting a wedding this week came at the bride with a sword and struck her, officials said.
The bride, whose name is currently being withheld, suffered a non-life-threatening cut on her left arm as she and her bridal party were celebrating her wedding on Saturday at the Grand Cascades Lodge in Hardyston, according to nj.com.
The suspect, Carlos Mejia, a 43-year-old hedge fund manager in New York City, allegedly approached the group and asked if they had a cigarette, according to nj.com. An argument ensued, and after the bridal party knocked on his door and yelled at Mejia through the door, he swung it open, began swinging the sword at the bridal party and threatened to kill the bride.

Mejia then swung the sword and slashed the bride's arm, according to reports.
A witness called 911 as Mejia attempted to leave, but he was successfully disarmed by several guests and security personnel detained him until police arrived, according to the New Jersey Herald. Mejia appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the offense, according to an affidavit on the incident.

Mejia is facing third-degree aggravated assault with bodily injury, third-degree terroristic threats, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and a disorderly persons offense of harassment, according to the New Jersey Herald. He was released from the county jail pending a court appearance.
