North Jersey Man Missing Since August 2014 Found Dead in Washington State

The cause of death has been confirmed by authorities as suicide.

A man last seen in New Jersey in 2014 has been identified as the person hanging from a tree in residential neighborhood in Washington State.

Jason Dilavore, 39, of Hopatcong last seen in August 2014, left for Washington State and frequented a homeless shelter there named Noah’s Ark, according to kimatv.com. The shelter’s executive director identified Dilavore nearly two weeks after his body was removed from a tree on East Race Street in Yakima, Wash., about 140 miles south of Seattle, the report said.

The cause of death was suicide, the report said.

Dilavore was released from a New Jersey jail in 2012 after being convicted for breaking into a woman’s home in Rockaway and subsequently assaulting her boyfriend, according to nj.com.

He was convicted of burglary, stalking, criminal trespass, and assault after the March 2006 incident, the report said.

Dilavore was reported missing from New Jersey in 2014, and family members did not know why he was in Washington State, the report said.
