New Jersey Couple Busted After Woman's Naked, Meth-Fueled Antics At Car Dealership: Cops

A New Jersey woman was arrested after she took methamphetamine, went to work at a car dealership, stripped naked and then locked herself in the bathroom, police said.

The woman was one of two people arrested connected to the alleged meth-fueled antics at the Sussex County dealership, according to the State Police

The incident happened at 12:13 p.m. on Tuesday, when troopers from Sussex Station responded to a car dealership in Wantage Township for a disorderly person complaint.

The dealership called 911 to report that employee, Kimberly Shields, 45, of Sussex, arrived at work, entered a restroom, stripped naked and refused to come out, police said.

When responding troopers arrived, they were able to arrest Shields without incident. But the same cannot be said about her husband, David Shields, 58, of Sussex, who arrived shortly after her arrest and made it a point to interfere with the investigation, police said.

As a result, David Shields was arrested, too, police said.

The investigating troopers discovered that Kimberly Shields was under the influence and in possession of methamphetamine, police said.

She was charged with possession of methamphetamine, being criminally under the influence, and was taken to Newton Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.

David Shields was charged with obstruction and released pending a court appearance.

The State Police offered a message about the incident on its Facebook page:

"Again, we can’t give you a complicated narrative filled with big, fancy medical terms, but what we can tell you is that meth may make you go to your workplace, barricade yourself in a bathroom, strip naked and refuse to come out. Is that a good enough explanation?

"Meth. Not even once."
