The Newton Chapter of the American Chronic Pain Association (.org) – ACPA was introduced by Lester Zaleski as Cofacilitator. This regional chapter brings a round table-peer-to-peer support group. Meetings are scheduled at different locations at least once per week.

The mission of this 501 c3 group is to support Individuals in chronic pain, help them learn easier and effective choices of multi-disciplined treatments available to them under insurance and out of pocket options. They also motivate people to improve management of their own pain.

Unlike traditional medicine where the “patient” is a passive participant, living a full life with pain requires taking an active role in the recovery process. It requires us to work with our health care providers to find what we need to restore our quality of living. The answer is different for each of us, depending on our individual medical and personal needs. The solution may be - Biofeedback, physical therapy, counseling, pacing, nutritional counseling and a host of medical modalities that work for the individual.

Since this Newton ACPA meet ups have been postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions, the chapter is reaching out online starting with three free Yoga Sessions via Zoom at 3:00 to 4:00 PM Tuesday’s, June 2nd, 9th, and 16th.

Participants will learn how repetitive pain affects the nervous system and brain and explore the use of gentle Yoga, mindful meditation, guided visualization and breath work to lessen pain. The goal of this class is to assist in reducing your long-term pain. Previous experience with yoga is not necessary for these classes.

If you suffer from chronic back pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, or various other conditions which have led you to experience pain for 6 months or more this class may be for you.
