Over 263 Wax Folds Of Heroin Found During Sparta Traffic Stop

Police found the folds hidden inside the car and in a purse.

SPARTA, NJ— Police found over 236 wax folds of heroin during a traffic stop after police thought the driver might be high, Sparta Police said in a statement.

According to police, Officer Tom Snyder pulled over a car for a burned out headlight around 12:40 a.m. on Jan. 22. As he was talking to the driver, 47-year-old Jonathan F. Wecht from Vernon, Snyder began to suspect that the driver was under the influence of a narcotic.

After first giving a fake name, the passenger, Brianne H. Lutz, 34, from Newton, admitted to Snyder that the duo had heroin in the car.

236 wax folds of heroin were found hidden in the car's fuse box, and even more were in Lutz's purse.

Both were arrested and taken to police headquarters.

Wecht was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a prescription legend drug. He was also charged

with motor vehicle summonses for maintenance Of lamps, failure to inspect, cracked windshield and possession of a controlled dangers substance in a motor vehicle. He was released pending a court date.

Lutz was charged with possession of heroin, hindering,and possession of drug

paraphernalia. She was turned over to the Sussex County Sherriff's Office for an outstanding warrant, and has a pending court date in Sparta.
