Oxycodone, Pot Found During Traffic Stop: Sparta Police

The man​ allegedly told police he'd smoked pot in the car previously, but not recently.

SPARTA, NJ — A traffic stop for speeding ended in a drug arrest after Sparta police say they found Oxycodone and marijuana in the man's car.

Police pulled the man over on Aug. 26 after they say he was going 73 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour speed zone.

The driver, Phillip Wilson, 36, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, didn't have any registration documents, police said, and during the stop, smelled of marijuana. Wilson allegedly told police he'd smoked in the car previously, but not recently.

During a search, police say they found two Oxycodone polls and a small baggie of marijuana. Wilson was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics and marijuana, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a car, speeding and fictitious plates. He was released with an upcoming court date.
