Pizza Challenge hosted by the Lenape Valley Kiwanis Club
Pizza Challenge and Cake Walk Fundraiser Helps Clothing Drive
The Kiwanis Club of Lenape Valley proudly recognizes Pizza Bistro of Sparta as the winner of the “2015 Pizza Challenge,” an annual event to raise money for the Kiwanis club’s Clothe-A-Child Project. All money raised will be used to provide winter coats to elementary school children in the Lenape Valley area. This was the 5th year the Kiwanis Club of Lenape Valley hosted the Pizza Challenge in June at the Wild West City. Last year the club’s project provided 51 coats to children in need at Stanhope Valley Road School, Byram Elementary, Netcong Elementary and four Hopatcong schools (Tulsa Trail Elementary, Durban Avenue School, Hudson-Maxim School and Hopatcong Middle School). The club hopes that the money this year will not only provide more than 51 coats as the there was an increase in the need each year.
This year six pizzerias donated pizzas to be judged by those who attended the challenge. Carmine’s Pizzeria (Netcong), Sal’s Pizzeria (Stanhope), Cambiotti’s Tomato Pie Cafe (Landing), Frank’s Pizzeria (Byram), Franco’s Pizzeria (Netcong) and this year’s winner was Pizza Bistro (Sparta).

In addition to the pizza challenge, the Kiwanis Club of Lenape Valley held a “Cake Walk” where those in attendance could additionally support the Clothe-A-Child Project by winning a delicious donated cake. The club would like to thank Cafe Pierrot, Stonewood Tavern, Black Forest Inn, Adam’s Hot Bagels, Tulsa Trail School, Cakes by Joyce and various individual donors for the beautiful cakes that they generously donated.
The Kiwanis Club of Lenape Valley would like to thank all who donated and attended the fundraiser which was very successful. We are able, through each donation, to change the life of a child in ways we can only imagine. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time. The Kiwanis Club of Lenape Valley proudly serves the children of Byram, Hopatcong, Netcong and Stanhope. The club meets every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at Sal’s Pizzeria located at 81 State Hwy 183 in Stanhope at 6 p.m. for those who might be interested in coming to see what the club is all about.
