Join your neighbors, community and friends for a fun-filled day and help us raise awareness about child abuse and neglect in New Jersey!

On Saturday, September 19th, walkers and runners from across the state will be heroes for the children of New Jersey by participating in the Heroes for Children 5k and Family Fun Walk, in support of Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs), Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs), and the New Jersey Children’s Alliance (NJCA). In 2013, Children’s Advocacy Centers coordinated and conducted interviews in over 2,900 cases of child abuse in New Jersey. Multidisciplinary Teams throughout the state served thousands more. To increase awareness, knowledge, and education, NJCA, a statewide non-profit organization that supports CACs and MDTs in their efforts to provide a coordinated and comprehensive response to child abuse, is proud to announce its second annual Heroes for Children 5K and Family Fun Walk.
The Heroes for Children 5K and Family Fun Walk will be held at the South Mountain Recreation Complex’s Clipper Pavilion in West Orange. The 5K and Walk will promote public awareness about child abuse issues and increase knowledge about the services of local Children’s Advocacy Centers and Multidisciplinary Teams and the difference these services make in a child’s life. The Heroes for Children 5K and Family Fun Walkwill help raise funds for Children’s Advocacy Centers and Multidisciplinary Teams in all 21 counties through registration fees and sponsorships. Following the 5K and walk, join us for music, face painting, arts and crafts, and other activities. The location is also conveniently located next to Turtle Back Zoo.
