Schools' Solar Panel Start Moved to March 20

Pushed back from Friday, the Hopatcong school district aims to turn on its solar panels on the first day of spring.

The sun will just have to wait.

The switch-flipping ceremony for the solar-power system, which is expected to save the district $3 million over 15 years, has been pushed back from Friday to Tuesday, or the first day of spring.

“This is a great moment for the citizens of Hopatcong and our schools,” Superintendent Dr. Charles Maranzano said in a release, “and it will place Hopatcong Schools in the forefront of solar energy for the next two decades.”
