HOME REPAIR LOAN/GRANT PROGRAM AVAILABLE TO RESIDENTS

The USDA Rural Development has a home repair program that provides 1% loans up to $40,000 to very-low-income homeowners to repair, improve or modernize their homes or grants up to $10,000 to elderly very-low-income homeowners to remove health and safety hazards. To qualify, you must:

• Be the homeowner and occupy the house
• Be unable to obtain affordable credit elsewhere
• In Sparta Township, for example , a 1-4 person household, the family income must be below $53,000
• For grants, be age 62 or older and not be able to repay a repair loan
